The formal opening of the Rostselmash production site for trailed and mounted equipment in Taganrog took place on February 14. By pressing a symbolic button, the Governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev, the President of New Commonwealth Industrial Union Konstantin Babkin and General Director of Rostselmash Valery Maltsev launched the factory.
On an area of over 78 hectares in Taganrog, forage harvesting, tillage, municipal, grain harvesting machines, equipment for plant protection and nutrition, as well as self-propelled sprayers will be produced. Once the factory has ramped up to its full capacity, the output is expected to amount to about 5,000 units per year.
In 2022, the project of the Taganrog factory renovation and construction was included in the list of "100 Governor's Investment Projects". Its implementation was also supported by the Industrial Development Fund of the Russian Federation and the Taganrog administration.
By the time of the official launch, the factory's first building - the cutting and blanking shop, with an area of 25,400 m2, had been completely renovated and put into operation. There is a central warehouse and a spare parts warehouse. Restoration of the second building, which will be used for welding, painting and assembly of equipment, is scheduled to complete by the end of 2024. Now all stages of production are concentrated in the first building, where the official ceremony took place.
"Today's event has made a start to a chain of events in February. The first of three Rostselmash's projects that have been implemented in the Rostov Region has started. In February, another project will be commissioned, and then a new tractor plant. We are fulfilling the paramount task set by President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin: to ensure Russia's technological sovereignty. Less than two years have passed since the start of active work on this project, and everything worked out. About 2 billion rubles were invested, including money from the Russian Industry Supporting Fund," Vasily Golubev said.
Konstantin Babkin, the President of the New Commonwealth Industrial Union, expressed gratitude to the government of the Rostov Region for supporting the project and said good words of wisdom to the staff of the Taganrog factory.
"This project is aimed at the future and will give us a lot of joyful emotions. Together we will make great and wonderful achievements here. I thank everyone involved in this project. And, of course, I want to thank the Governor and the whole management of the Rostov Region for their constant support, thoughtful support and solutions to daily struggles. We will not fail you. We will move forward!" said Konstantin Babkin.
"We are present at a historic event – the revival of agricultural machine building in Taganrog," said Valery Maltsev, CEO of Rostselmash. He spoke about the active development of production and product families, including the development and testing of road and construction equipment. The General Director noted that the company has been investing in creating state-of-the-art and safe working conditions and decent pay. "Today there are 306 labor dynasties working at Rostselmash. This means, of course, good working conditions and commitment to the cause," Valery Maltsev said.
Despite the fact that the new factory is still ramping up to capacity, it already has its own leading workers. Nine employees of the factory received Letters of Gratitude from the Governor of the Rostov Region. Alexander Krivoguzov, a Class 5 electrical equipment service electrician, was awarded a Medal for Valorous Labour for the Welfare of the Don Region.

It solves the tasks of the Russian Federation program named "Development of Industry and Improving its Competitiveness", contributes to increasing production of high-tech products, labor productivity growth through the use of advanced technologies and modern equipment.
