Rostselmash is marking a decade since the launch of its pioneering twin-cylinder RSM 161 grain harvester. Since then, nearly 2,500 units have been delivered to farmers in Russia and abroad, and the model is still rolling off the production line today.
Full-scale production of the model launched in spring 2016, following the debut of the first pilot batch machine a year earlier. During extensive trials in 8 regions across Russia, the harvester proved its reliability in diverse climate and crop growing conditions in just 2 months, securing an impressive initial backlog of 140 units.
The 400hp RSM 161 topped the high-performance segment. This model's key benefits are a productivity of 36 tons per hour, a coverage up to 2,000 ha per season, and a 2-stage cleaning system with proprietary suspension for sieves spanning for 7.1 sq.m. This is the best-in-class figure which provides clean grain sample, which can be taken right to the silo.
"The RSM 161 became a benchmark. Its legacy paved the way for the T500, the second machine in the family, and the best solutions are being integrated into a new platform currently under development," a source at the Rostselmash R&D center noted. Despite the success, the company continues to upgrade the model.
The RSM 161's operational footprint spans across numerous Russian regions and throughout Western and Eastern Europe. The machine is most popular on the domestic market: in Siberia, in the North-West, and in the Volga region.
The successful introduction and operation of the model is clearly proven by positive testimonials from producers across Russia:
Ruslan Safin, Engineering Manager at Ammonia Agrotechnologies (Republic of Tatarstan): "3 RSM 161s we bought do about 23% of all our harvesting. Our operators praise the power, cab ergonomics and ease of maintenance."
Igor Gulyaev, a sole proprietor (Altai): "The machine excels in challenging conditions, including wet cereals and sunflowers. It is a reliable asset in our climate."
Ivan Drap, head of the Drap farm (Oryol region): "With high winter wheat yields (up to 70 dt/ha) the twin-cylinder RSM 161 clearly outperforms conventional combines in speed, threshing cleanliness and cleaning efficiency."
