Rostselmash is building a unique proving ground for agricultural and road-building machines. A construction project occupies a 14-hectare land plot of a new Rostselmash agriculture machinery works in Taganrog, Rostov region. The territory will be split into two parts: test tracks and functional testing site for road-building machinery. The project investments will amount to 1 billion roubles.

“Right from the onset this construction project was aimed for establishing the most advanced proving ground for agricultural and purpose-designed machines in Russia, which, in some aspects, will outperform foreign analogues. This will be the first national and Europe-wide multipurpose proving ground, providing testing opportunities for a wide range of machines: combines, tractors, telescopic handlers, front loaders, backhoe loaders, crawler excavators and road-building machines,” says Valery Maltsev, CEO of Rostselmash.

According to company's CEO, the proving ground was developed based on the international best practices being enhanced according to company's prospects. For example, the ground will comprise three circular tracks, allowing for more machines to be tested simultaneously. The tracks will be automated providing for the remote piloting.

“Our company implements a large-scale program for product range development. Tens of new machine models will be put into production in the nearest future and we need facilities to test them all. The proving ground will meet all the applicable international standards. It also complies with the corporate policy for the development of experimental facilities and improvement of validation quality of serial and new models. Today we create an integrated complex for testing various types of machines. It will comprise a control and measuring station with numerous test benches for testing separate components, assemblies of self-propelled machines, and the complete machines. It will be located at the main company's site in Rostov-on-Don. This will facilitate bringing new agricultural and road-building machines on the market in the shortest possible time, providing our clients with the high-quality equipment as needed,” says Valery Maltsev, CEO of Rostselmash.

Currently a concrete roadbed is being laid for future 400х160 m tracks in Taganrog. The tracks will be used for functional testing of primary and secondary braking systems, vibration tests, testing of GCFS, etc. Functional testing will be performed on the 800 m outer road of the track, provided with several slopes of a varying gradient. For endurance testing there will be constructed three circular tracks with various types of mobile obstacles.
